Eames Partnership recently completed a search for a global (re)insurance carrier who required a new managing director to take over an existing MGA and launch an additional specialty arm in parallel. This was a senior hire for the group and played a key part in its ambitious growth plans for the coming years. Due to the nature of the search, our client didn't solely require a future-proof leader that brought with them the experience and credibility to lead the pre-existing organisation, but also required an ambitious and technically skilled individual who would bring knowledge of the specialty markets, Lloyds regulations and MGA agreements.
The team cast a broad net and isolated the key competencies required to successfully fulfil our client's requests. We searched for individuals with leadership, technical expertise and credibility and focused our remit on the US and wider international markets. We engaged with 42 executives across the globe all under an NDA, cross-referencing each candidate with multiple primary sources to ensure we were targeting the right individuals.
The team screened 28 candidates and proceeded to interview 13 which resulted in a final shortlist of six candidates (two female and four male) who were presented to our client. Our client interviewed each of the six candidates and the search resulted in the successful onboarding of two of the six candidates, one accepting the role as CEO and an additional candidate accepting a newly formed position as head of specialty.
