Eames Partnership were recently approached by a large European specialty insurer to evaluate its perception in the marketplace and assess if there had been any change in the company's presence in recent years. We were comissioned to assist with the reasoning behind why their presence had increased across some lines of the business, but had fallen in other areas. As a result, we were tasked with examining several divisions in detail and providing recommendations to the executive team that would assist the future development of these areas. This would allow them to retain business, gain greater traction and build solid relationships with brokers in the future.
During the initial, secondary phase, we canvassed a wide range of individuals at major broking firms and leading insurance companies, operating within both the London and European (re)insurance markets and across several speciality lines of business. We proceeded to canvass in excess of 35 contacts across the market, both from major broking firms and leading insurers, to obtain a comprehensive and unbiased insight into how competitors, and those with direct dealings, perceive the carrier. We highlighted a variety of overriding themes that consistently arose when conversing with our sources. These included team perception, geographical focus and mark visibility, among others.
Following the research phase, our findings not only identified the company's strengths and weaknesses, but also incorporated an invaluable insight into employee and department effectiveness, as well as opportunities for the carrier. The final report enable our client to pinpoint precise areas for improvement, and take steps to address them. This has included establishing new protocols to increase transactional efficiency for brokers, alongside better clarity around the insurer's offering. This has strengthened market relationships and improved the company's reputation, both as a credible insurer and as an employer, resulting in a rise in successful talent acquisition.
