Arch Reinsurance has announced the appointment of Venessa Hardy Pickering as chief financial officer (CFO), effective 1 September 2021.

In her new role, she will report to Jerome Halgan, chief executive officer of Arch Reinsurance (ARL).

Hardy Pickering is a recognised (re)insurance executive with a track record of supporting strategic growth plans, leading teams and serving as a business partner to a number of stakeholders.

She joins the business from Hamilton Re, where she served as CFO and group treasurer for Hamilton Insurance Group. She has also held senior financial roles at Ariel Re and Rosemont Reinsurance Ltd.

Halgan commented: “Vanessa is highly regarded in the reinsurance community because of her depth of knowledge and ability to navigate our complicated and fast-moving industry. Arch Reinsurance Ltd. has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years with the help of an improved market and will greatly benefit from Vanessa’s knowledge of the Bermuda market and experience with global reinsurance companies’ opportunities and challenges.”
