Global (re)insurer QBE has announced the appointment of Ian France as head of property, European Operations.

In his new role, France will work with each of the property underwriting teams in developing the underwriting strategy to deliver greater value to the firm’s customers.

He reports to Stephanie Cryer who was recently promoted from the role to head of product leaders, QBE European Operations.

France joins the business from AXA XL, where he was most recently international property manager and has held a number of senior property positions at XL Catlin and AIG.

Cryer said: “I am delighted to welcome Ian to the role. As Head of Property, he will be working closely with our underwriting teams to manage our property portfolio and risk appetite as well as the alignment of technical underwriting priorities and tools to ensure we deliver the best solutions for our customers.”
